The Kids to Camp Xtreme 5k is back for 2010. This isn’t your typical race. Runners will be taken through the woods, over hills and will also have to avoid man-mad obstacles. The course is among Southwest Tulsa’s beautiful scenery, next to the Oaks Country Club. Runners have a choice between a one mile trail run and the more popular 5k obstacle course. Be sure to dress comfortably for athletic activity, as you will be sweaty and muddy by the end of it all.
The Kids to Camp Race raises money for underprivileged children to attend a week of day camp. At the camp, they will learn about outdoor education and camaraderie. The goal is to take kids from their ipods & Playstations, and reconnect them with nature. Camp Loughridge, a nationally accredited Summer Day camp, is the location of the day camp. Last year, $56,000 in scholarships was raised to send Kids to Camp.
Partnered with the Autism Center of Tulsa, Tulsa Public Schools, the Mental Health Association of Tulsa, Tulsa Community College & the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce; we hope to help raise much more this year! So go ahead and register for the race, it takes place Saturday, July 31st.

It’s good to see that so many people are willing to help send kids to day camp. Running is an interesting way to raise funds, but it could make the cause more visible. Good job posting this.
